Are you looking to learn how to apply drywall to help you with your next
construction project? The following contractors discuss how to apply drywall to ceilings and walls:
•Gordie Glavan - When applying drywall to ceilings, nails or
screws should be applied on the
bevelled side of the sheet into the framing (framing should be spaced every
12 to 20 inches). In the middle of the sheet, three screws should be applied
following the framing totalling five nails and screws per framing. Nails
cannot be used if drywall is being applied to steel. When sheeting walls,
four screws should be put along the top and bottom of the sheet along with
screws every 16 inches in the middle of the sheet and every 12 inches along
the bevel if sheets are being mounted vertically. If sheets are being
mounted horizontally, just follow the framing with screws every 16 inches
along the middle of the sheet and put a few more on the end of the sheet.
Always remember to stagger your joints when applying drywall horizontally on
walls.
