There is an abundance of advice when it comes to using cold calling
to prospect for new business. Some sales trainers advocate cold calls and some don't. Out
of those that do, some advocate using cold calling scripts when calling on prospects and
selling by phone and some don't. The following salespeople offer their opinions about
using cold calling scripts when prospecting and selling over the phone.
•Tino Buntic - I have used cold calling as a prospecting
technique in the past. I never cold call any more but when I did I would not use any scripts.
Scripts make you sound canned and propspects can see through that. Using a cold calling script
makes you sound as if you don't believe in your product and so rely on a script written by
somebody else that does. A natural conversation, wheteher over the phone or in person, makes
you appear to be more genuine about yourself and your products.
