What skills are needed for job suitability? Do you do the hiring for your company? Are you a recruiter? Are you in human resources? What do you look for when filling a position? Hiring the right person for a job is important as mistakes can be costly. The following professionals discuss job suitability, skills, and how to hire the right candidate to fill a job position:
•Bernard O'Mahony - I run my own business and here's what I look for when 'Hiring a job candidate'.
1) When requesting a resume, be sure to ask that the applicant attach a passport sized photograph to their resume.
2) Take note of what is written on their resume. This will help you to ask the right questions.
3) Upon their arrival ask yourself: Did they arrive on time? Are they appropriately dressed?
4) Re-affirm points on the resume and ask for further details if necessary.
5) Don't let the applicant talk too much. This will only make them nervous and you appear like you don't care.
6) Remember, the applicant needs to know if YOU are right for THEM too!
7) So the applicant had a million jobs while studying at university or college?!? This is not necessarily a sign that they don't stay in one job long. Remember when you were struggling to make ends meet at college?
8) When the interview is finished, be sure to thank the applicant for coming and your intentions of notification.
